Oklahoma Removed Its Temporary EHV Statement From Equine Import CVIs

Oklahoma’s Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry states that the special EHV statement previously required on horse import CVIs is no longer required as of December 19, 2025.

What changed

The statement had been added during a multi-state EHV/EHM event and required assurances about quarantine premises, known exposure, and attendance at events with confirmed cases.

The removal is a useful example of why horse businesses should verify current movement rules instead of relying on a form or checklist saved during an earlier outbreak.

What operators should do now

• Use ODAFF’s current import requirements before each interstate move.
• Delete outdated emergency language from permanent barn checklists only after confirming it is no longer required.
• Keep ordinary CVI and EIA requirements current.
• Maintain a separate outbreak-response checklist that can be activated when rules change.
